Forts of Rajasthan.
1. Amber Fort
The construction of this fort was initiated by Raja Man Singh but was later completed by Sawai Jai Singh I. The most powerful fort of Rajasthan has a very magnificent aura and is made in red sandstone and white marble. The interior wall of the palace depicts expressive painting scenes with carvings, precious stones and mirror settings. In the foreground is the Maota Lake, providing a breathtaking look.
2. Jaigarh Fort
Also known as the Victory Fort, this fort is situated almost 15kms away from the capital city, Jaipur. Jaigarh fort has an amazing view and was built to strengthen the defense of Amber and hence, it has a very simple look. But, the most prominent feature of this fort is the Jaivana, the world’s largest cannon on wheels. It is one of the major reasons which attract lots of tourists to this fort.
3. Taragarh Fort
Taragarh Fort or ‘Star Fort’ is another impressive architectural structure in Indian state of Rajasthan. An excellent bird’s view of Kota city from the fort is another attraction among tourists. The main entrance of the fort has some scrupulous carvings of elephants. There are three gateways to the fort which are named Lakshmi Pol, Phuta Darwaza and Gagudi ki Phatak.
4. Chittorgarh Fort
The giant structure of Chittorgarh Fort with numerous gateways is the pride of Chittaur city. The fort has many splendid monuments, which are fine illustrations of the Rajputana architecture. The ancient ruins of the fort are worth spending few moments in solitude.
5. Mehrangarh Fort
This fort is the most formidable and magnificent fort of Rajasthan. This fort is that it is balances on a 150m high hill and the museum in Mehrangarh fort is one of the finest museums in Rajasthan and certainly the best lay out.
6. Jaisalmer Fort
This fort aptly depicts the glorious heritage of Rajasthan and perhaps which is why it is locally called Sonar Quila. It is one of the most dominant structures in the desert state. Made of sandstone, Jaisalmer fort will amaze you with its beauty.
